Level 1 - The Swing Out with Sarah and Lewi

This series will focus on one of Lindy Hop's most iconic moves, the Swing Out. We'll go over the rhythm, shape, technique, and how to do it from closed and open position. We love to play around with our swing outs and we hope you will too.

When: Sundays, May 5,12 and 19 from 4:30-5:30pm

Level 2 - Swing Out + with Lauren and Matt

The Swing out is a pillar of Lindy Hop so it pays to do it well. This series will go over adding variations, swivels, and moves based on the swing out. If you know the swing out and are looking for ways to make it feel effortless and fun, this class is a good start.

When: Sundays, May 5,12 and 19 from 4:30-5:30pm

May Workshops

Due to scheduling issues on Wednesdays, we are hosting two 2 hour workshops around The Shim Sham this month. Each day can be taken as a stand alone or be taken together.. We will resume our 4 week series in June. 

The Shim Sham with Morgan Lee

Want to know that line dance that everyone does at a swing dance? Learn the classic steps, rhythms, and nuances of the Shim Sham! Originally a tap dance routine, the Lindy Hop community has been carrying on the well-known version popularized by Frankie Manning.

When: Wednesday, May 22nd from 7pm - 9pm

Where: Ethical Society Building, 2nd floor

Al Minns and Leon James Shim Sham with Morgan Lee

Over the years, people have created their own versions of the Shim Sham. Al Minns and Leon James are two influential African American dancers from the Savoy Ballroom whose version is featured in The Spirit Moves. Learn this exciting routine which covers a broad spectrum of authentic solo jazz moves to add to your repertoire.

When: Wednesday, May 29th from 7-9pm

April Classes

Level 1 - Lindy Hop 8 Count with Lewi & Sarah

Come learn 8 count Lindy Hop Foundations! In this class, you'll dive into the heart of Lindy Hop, learning fundamental steps and techniques. We'll break down the dance into its basic elements, focusing on the foundational 8-count structure, syncing your steps to the swinging beat of the music.

When: Sundays April 7th - 28th from 4:30-5:30pm

Level 2 - Balboa with Alex & Brennan

This class will review balboa footwork, connection technique, and cover the ways that Balboa technique can be distinct but complimentary to Lindy Hop. Alex and Brennan will cover a set of pure Balboa and Bal-swing moves including come arounds, paddles, out and ins, lollies, toss outs, and swivels.

When: Sundays April 7th - 28th from 4:30-5:30pm

Level 3 - Turn Up The Tempo Lindy Hop with Morgan & Nick

This series is designed to make more songs dance-able to you. We will streamline your swing out and give you tricks and sequences that lend themselves to dancing faster and look cool while doing it.

When: Wednesdays, April 3rd - 24th from 8-9pm

Solo Jazz - The Big Apple with Morgan & Nick

Come learn one of the most iconic routines in Lindy Hop - “The Big Apple!" While originally social, the most recognizable version of this routine was choreographed by the ambassador of Lindy Hop, Frankie Manning, and was featured in the 1939 film, Keep Punching.

When: Wednesdays, April 3rd - 24th from 7-8pm
